New York State Withholding
Your New York withholding is automatically transferred from the information entered on your federal return.

Important Information
Before completing your return, review all Forms W-2 and 1099 to verify that:

- New York withholding amounts were entered correctly.
- State information is complete on each form.
Incorrect withholding information may affect your refund or amount due.
New York Estimated Tax Payments

Estimated payments are generally entered under:
Federal > Other Forms > Payments and Estimates
Once entered, the payment information will flow to the New York return automatically.
Payment Made With an Extension
If you filed a New York extension and made a payment with that extension, enter the payment amount in this section.
Pathway to this entry is:
New York State Return > Payments > Payment Made With Extension
When Should I Enter an Extension Payment?
Enter the amount only if:

If you are due a New York refund, you may choose to apply all or part of that refund to next year's New York tax return.
Pathway to this entry is:
New York State Return > Payments > Apply Refund to Next Year's Return
How Does This Work?
Instead of receiving the entire refund, you may elect to:
- Apply the full refund to next year's return; or
- Apply only a portion of the refund to next year's return.
The amount entered will be treated as a credit toward your next year's New York tax liability.
When Can I Enter This Amount?
Your refund amount may not be final until the return has been completed.
Once the return is complete and saved, you may return to the Payments section and enter the amount you would like applied to next year's return.
