Refund Applied From Last Year's Return
Use this field to enter any state refund from the prior tax year that you elected to apply to the current year's state tax return instead of receiving as a refund.
Examples include:
- All of a prior-year state refund applied to the current year.
- A portion of a prior-year state refund applied to the current year.
Entering this amount ensures you receive credit for payments already applied to your state tax liability.
Amounts Paid With Extension
Use this field to enter any payment submitted with a state extension request.
Examples include:
- An electronic extension payment.
- A payment mailed with a state extension voucher.
- Any extension payment made directly to the state.
Only enter payments that were actually made with the extension filing.
Refund Applied to Next Year's Return
If you are entitled to a state refund, you may choose to apply all or part of that refund to next year's state tax return instead of receiving it as a refund.
Enter the amount you would like applied to next year's state return.
Important Notes
- The current year's state return must be completed and saved before the refund amount is available.
- The amount entered cannot exceed the available state refund.
- This option is only available when the return results in a refund.
