Estimated Payment Vouchers (Form 540-ES)
Use Form 540-ES to calculate and print estimated tax payment vouchers for future California tax payments.
Estimated tax payments are generally made by taxpayers who expect to owe tax and whose withholding will not fully cover their California tax liability.
For more information on the Form 540-ES Estimated Payment Vouchers please see our article here.
Installment Agreement (Form 3567)
Use Form 3567 to request an installment payment agreement with the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB).
An installment agreement may allow you to make monthly payments if you are unable to pay your California tax liability in full by the due date.
California Schedule D Capital Gain or Loss Adjustment
Use this section to report California adjustments related to capital gains and losses.
California and federal tax laws do not always treat certain capital gain and loss transactions the same way. Schedule D adjustments allow you to report any required California differences.
Form 3519 (Extension Payment)
Use Form 3519 to calculate and submit a payment with a California extension.
While California generally grants an automatic extension to file, any tax due must still be paid by the original due date to avoid penalties and interest.
For more information on Form 3519 (Payment for Automatic Extension) please see here.
Form 3568 (Alternative Dependent Exemptions)
Use Form 3568 to claim the Alternative Dependent Exemption when applicable.
This form is generally used by taxpayers who support qualifying dependents but are unable to claim the regular dependent exemption under certain circumstances.
Underpayment of Estimated Tax (Form 5805)
Use Form 5805 to determine whether an underpayment penalty applies because sufficient tax was not paid throughout the year through withholding and estimated tax payments.
In some situations, Form 5805 may also reduce or eliminate an underpayment penalty if an exception applies.
