What Is This Section Used For?
Use this section when the taxpayer wants to apply part or all of their Kentucky refund to the following year's Kentucky income tax liability.
What Information Is Required?
- Amount of current years refund
Enter the amount of the Kentucky refund the taxpayer wants applied to next year's Kentucky income tax return.
Important Notes
- Any amount entered in this field will reduce the taxpayer's current-year refund by the same amount.
- The amount entered will be applied as a credit toward the taxpayer's next Kentucky income tax return.
- Taxpayers who want to receive their entire refund for the current year should leave this field blank.
- Once the return is filed, the election to apply a refund to the following year's tax liability may not be changed.
- Applying a refund to the following year's return does not increase the total refund amount; it only changes how the refund is received.
