What was my filing fee?
You can find the payments you made with a debit/credit card listed behind the icon in the top-right corner, followed by Settings > Payment History. If you paid via File & Go, select Review > Refund Agreement from the menu on the left, followed by File & Go Consent to Refund Transfer Agreement to locate a receipt of your filing fees.
How much of my tax refund do I owe TaxSlayer?
If you have already filed your return, you can review the Refund Agreement to find the amount of filing fees that will be deducted from your tax refund. To locate the Refund Agreement, select Review > Refund Agreement from the menu on the left, then choose "File & Go Consent to Refund Transfer Agreement." The filing fees are detailed about a quarter of the way through the agreement.
If you haven't filed your return yet, you can review the filing fees amount listed under "Products & Services" during the E-file process.
How do I add or remove products and services?
While completing your return and the e-filing process, you may be offered additional services, such as Tax Protection Plus and SecurelyID. If you wish to sign up for the additional service, choose to add the product when it is offered. If you later change your mind and no longer want the service, you can remove it during the E-file process, under the Products & Services step.
When did I file my return?
If your return was accepted, you can find the date you filed based on when you received your acceptance email, or you can view your accepted return's PDF from the Tax Home and find the date you filed listed at the bottom of Form 8879.
How do I attach an explanation document to my tax return?
Typically, if you are required to attach a document to your return, we will provide a spot in the program where you can upload it. However, there may be times when you need to attach a document for which we do not provide an upload. If you are unable to upload the document you wish to attach to your return, you must paper file and include the document with your return when you mail it.
How do I access my state return?
To start, access the corresponding tax year and select State from the menu on the left. If you have already started a state return, you will see the state listed within a box on the page. Use the three dots within the box to edit your state return and access it. If you haven't started a state return yet, select the "Get Started" button to get your state return added.
How do I change my state residency status?
If you need to change your residency status from Resident, Part-year, or Nonresident to something else, simply delete your state return using the three dots. After you delete your state return, add it back, and you can pick a different residency status.
I don't want to file my state return with TaxSlayer. How do I pay without the state return being included?
If you don't wish to file a state return, simply decline adding a state return when offered. If you add a state return by mistake, delete it to avoid purchasing and filing it. To delete a state return, navigate to the State section using the menu on the left, then use the three dots to select Delete.
Do states have installment agreements?
Most states offer an installment payment plan as well, although the procedure varies from state to state. You can contact your state Department of Revenue for details.
What does it mean to have black numbers instead of green?
The number shown in the top-right corner is either your refund or the amount of taxes you owe. If it is a positive number in green, it indicates a refund. If the amount is a negative number in black, it is the amount of taxes you owe the IRS/state.
What is a Non-Filer?
Non-filer is not a common tax term, but it refers to someone who isn't required to file a federal tax return.
