If you received Form 1099-LTC, Long-Term Care and Accelerated Death Benefits, you'll need to enter the information from the form into your tax return. The information you provide is reported on Form 8853, Section C, which is used to calculate whether any portion of your long-term care insurance benefits or accelerated death benefits is taxable.
Payments reported on Form 1099-LTC may have been made:
- Directly to you
- To the insured individual
- To a third party on the insured's behalf
Entering Form 1099-LTC in the Program
Follow these steps to enter your Form 1099-LTC information:
- Select Federal.
- Select Deductions and then Select My Forms.
- Choose Adjustments to Income.
- Select MA MSAs, Archer MSAs, and Long-Term Care Insurance Contracts.
- Scroll to the Long-Term Care Insurance Contracts (Form 1099-LTC) section.
- Enter the information from your Form 1099-LTC as it appears on the form.
