During the e-file process, you chose our File & Go option to have the fees deducted from your refund (available only in paid packages). With this option, your program fees are deducted from your federal or state tax refund, whichever gets funded first. This feature is available only to TaxSlayer customers.
If the IRS does not release your funds within the 21 days outlined in the agreement, we cannot deduct the fees from the refund. If this happens, we will email you about the outstanding fees.
Why did the IRS hold my refund?
This can happen for several reasons. We do not have the details about your specific situation, but you can find more information on the IRS website.
Can you change my payment date?
The payment date cannot be changed. When the IRS did not process the refund within the 21 days allowed, emails began being sent indicating the amount and due date. The payment due date is approximately 3 weeks after the initial email is received.
What if I cannot pay?
If the IRS does not issue the refund and the bank cannot recover the tax preparation fees, we reserve the right to deduct the fees from the account specified in the agreement. For more information about this payment option, review the Refund Agreement listed in your account (Summary/Print section). You may also contact SBTPG (the bank that handles the transfer) at 877-908-7228.
