During the e-file process, you chose our Refund Transfer payment option, File N Go (only available in paid TaxSlayer packages). With File N Go, your program fees are deducted from your federal refund once the IRS releases those funds to you.
However, if the IRS does not release your funds within the 21 days outlined in the agreement, we are not able to deduct the fees from the refund. If this occurs, we will email you regarding the outstanding fees.
Why did the IRS hold my refund?
This can happen for a number of different reasons. TaxSlayer does not have the details about your specific situation, but you can find more information on the IRS website.
Can you change my payment date?
The payment date cannot be changed. When the IRS did not process the refund in the 21 days allowed, emails began to be sent indicating the amount and date due. The payment due date allows approximately 3 weeks after the initial email is received to pay the amount due.
What if I cannot pay?
If the IRS does not issue the refund and the bank cannot recover the tax preparation fees, we reserve the right to have the fees deducted from the account indicated in the agreement. For more information about this, review the Refund Agreement as listed in your account (Summary/Print section).
