Why am I being charged when I am Military?

Thank you for your service to our country. At TaxSlayer, we deeply appreciate the dedication and service of our military personnel. To honor this commitment, we are proud to offer special pricing for our active-duty military customers.

We offer free filing of our Classic Military federal product. State returns are priced at $42.95. Even with our Premium package, which includes the option to ask a tax professional, priority support, and chat, the cost for our military customers is only $20 for the federal return and $42.95 for the state return. These rates are exceptionally low compared to our competitors' rates for military customers.

Our Military Edition pricing is specifically for Active-Duty Military personnel. When you enter your W-2 with a qualifying Military EIN number and check the Active-Duty box, your return is marked as Active Duty. If the Active-Duty box is not checked, the fee to file your return will not be discounted, and the full amount of $27.95 for your Federal return (Classic Edition) and $42.95 for each state will be charged.
