When you file using our software, you are given two options to choose from regarding how to pay your federal or state taxes. Our options are Direct Debit or mailed check.
Direct Debit lets you to enter your bank account information so the IRS and or state can withdraw your tax payment directly from your account. When you choose the Direct Debit payment method, you must also provide a payment date. The payment date you provide is simply the first day in which the IRS/State can make the withdrawal. Typically, the withdrawal is made within a week of the payment date chosen during the E-file process.
If your payment is not withdrawn within a couple weeks of your selected payment date:
- There was likely a mistake made when entering the bank account details.
- The bank used to make the payment did not allow for the debit to occur, or
- You elected to pay by mailed check rather than electronic withdrawal.
In any case, you are still required to pay your taxes and the easiest option will be going on the IRS website to do so.
I am afraid there is no way for our software to know if the IRS/state successfully debited your bank account for any tax payments. It is up to the user to make sure their payment is debited,
