How do I file my amended Colorado return?
Amended state returns must be paper filed. To print your amended return, select “Summary/Print” from the navigation bar followed by “View Return” once you are on the Tax Return Summary. Selecting “View Return” generates your PDF which contains your amended state return. Simply print, sign, and mail your amended Colorado return to paper file it.
Only the amended return (not the originally filed return) and copies of supporting documents (W-2’s, 1099’s, etc.) that support the reason for the change to the tax return need to be mailed unless the state or IRS specifically ask for other documents. View and compare your original and amended return documents to see the changes.
The state amended return mailing address can be found on the printed form and state department of revenue website. The address to mail the return may differ if you are receiving a refund or making a payment with your return.
Additional Information
When you file an amended return, you must provide an explanation regarding what you have changed. Please make sure to provide your explanation when completing your amended return(s) within the state amended menu.
