The State of Arizona issued guidance on April 6 regarding income tax filing deadlines for individuals:
- Arizona has changed the deadline to file individual income tax returns to May 17th. The deadline to pay any amount owed has also changed to May 17th. There will be no late filing or late payment penalties applied unless filed/paid after May 17th.
- The deadline to make first quarter estimated payments remains April 15th.
- Arizona has also extended the deadline for contributions to certified qualifying charitable organizations, qualifying foster care charitable organizations, school tuition organizations and public schools. Contributions made before May 17th are eligible for the tax credit on the 2020 return.
- If an individual taxpayer needs to file an extension, please file form 204 by May 17th. Taxpayers are not required to file form 204 if they already have a federal extension from the IRS.
