How do I adjust my Vermont return for unemployment income on my 2020 return?

For Tax Year 2020 only.

Vermont elected to follow the IRS unemployment exclusion as of April 1, 2021. 

What if I filed before April 1, 2021 and excluded the unemployment income? 

• If you filed after March 15, 2021 and took the exclusion at the federal level would need to take no further action 
• If you filed before the federal change and Vermont approval, the state will make the necessary adjustment automatically. 

Do not file an amended return until Vermont issue further guidance.
