The State of Hawaii has issued the following guidance regarding income tax filing deadlines for individuals:
The due date for 2025 Hawaii return is April 20, 2026.
- If you are due a refund, you only need to file your return by October 20, 2026.
- If you have a balance due, taxes must still be paid by April 20, 2026.
Note: Be sure to file form N-200V with your payment. Do not use federal Form 4868 as it cannot be used in lieu of N-200V.
Quarterly payments for 2026 must be accompanied by the Individual Income Tax Payment voucher Form N-200V
- First quarter estimated tax payments are due April 20th, 2026.
- Second quarter estimated tax payments are due June 20th, 2026.
- Third quarter estimated tax payments are due September 20th, 2026.
- Fourth quarter estimated tax payments are due January 20th, 2027.
Taxpayers are granted an automatic 6-month extension to file the return through October 20, 2026 as long as the following conditions are met:
- 100% of the estimated tax liability is paid on or before April 20st, 2026.
- If you do not pay your properly estimated tax liability by April 20st, there is no extension. You will be assessed penalties and interest on the amount unpaid.
- The return is filed on or before the expiration of the 6 month extension period.
- The return includes any tax that was not already paid; and
- A court order has not ordered you to file before the prescribed due date.
