At this time, the program cannot accept foreign phone numbers in the Basic Information section of your return.
This will not affect your ability to file. The IRS does not call taxpayers, so if the IRS needs to contact you, it will send a letter by mail.
What Phone Number Should I Enter?
You must enter a valid U.S. phone number in your account. This number is used for:
- Security codes
- Account verification
- Password recovery
- Occasional contact from our support team, if needed
If you do not have a U.S. phone number, you may enter the number of a trusted family member or friend who is located in the United States.
