What does the code on my return mean?

If you have additional income that is reported on your return that is not considered wages, you may have a code listed on the applicable line to identify the income. The following are some of the codes and where the income is pulled from.

1040 Form, Line 1

• • Federal Section > Income > Less Common Income > Other Compensation
    • SCH= Scholarships 
    • FB= Fringe Benefits
    • HSH= Household Employee Income
    • PRI= Prisoner Earned Income
    • FEC= Foreign Earned Income
  • Federal Section > Income > W-2
    • DCB= Dependent Care Benefits (Box 10 of W-2)
    • DFC= Disqualified Financial Contribution from Nonqualified plan (Box 11 of W-2)

1040 Form, Line 5

• • Federal Section > Income > 1099-R, RRB, SSA > Social Security Benefits/RRB-1099 >Lump Sum Payments
    • LSE  = Lump Sum Payments SS
