The state of Nebraska has made the following tax law changes for tax year 2018:
- Nebraska has taken steps to fight identity theft concerns. This may result in additional processing time. Nebraska has alerted taxpayers that it will take a minimum of 30 days to receive refunds from electronically filed error free returns. If you paper mail your return, your refund will take a minimum of 3 months to receive a refund from an error free return.
- Due to changes in Federal Tax laws, Nebraska Additional Tax Rate Schedule will not be applicable during tax years 2018 through 2025.
- The Nebraska Volunteer Emergency Responders Tax Credit has been expanded to include counties among the political subdivisions. This refundable credit is for eligible volunteers, and is limited to $250.
- Adjustment lines have been removed for Long-Term Care Savings Plan Adjustment, this adjustment has been terminated.
