As the 2025 filing season is quickly approaching, we would like to remind you of important tax changes that will take effect.
House Bill 1 - Revises various sections of law relating to income tax, sales tax, use tax, fuels excise taxes, and the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS).
House Bill 961 - Reenacts income tax credits for taxpayers using state, county, or municipal port facilities for cargo exports and for those using public airport facilities for certain import/export charges, and extends both repealers to July 1, 2028.
House Bill 972 - Extends the Inland Water Transportation Tax Credit offers Mississippi businesses $2,000 annually for each new full-time job in water transport, usable against state income tax, with extensions pushing its availability to 2029.
House Bill 1201 - Mississippi House Bill 1201 (2025) creates a blighted property redevelopment program offering income tax credits (up to 25%) and rebate incentives (75%) for developers, capped at $50k (residential) / $100k (commercial), to transform neglected properties into viable homes or businesses, with credits available after sale/lease and usable for up to 10 years.
