Is my military pension/retirement income taxable to Kansas?

According to the Kansas Department of Revenue, military retirement benefits are subtracted from your Kansas state tax return. 

The program does not automatically calculate this exclusion. You will have to manually enter this exclusion by going to:

  1. State section
  2. Kansas state return (3 dots, Edit)
  3. Subtractions from Income
  4. Enter Qualified Exempt Retirement Benefits received in 2025
  5. Continue
