Is my Military Pension/Retirement Income Taxable to Iowa?

According to the Iowa Department of Revenue, military retirement that is reported on your federal return is excluded from your Iowa state return.

The program does not automatically calculate this exclusion. You will have to manually enter this exclusion by going to:

  1. State Section
  2. Edit Iowa Return
  3. Subtractions from Income
  4. Military Retirement Subtraction - Enter Amount
  5. Continue
