Enter the amount of disability income reported as wages and included on your federal return for permanent and total disability in order to subtract up to a maximum of $20,000. If you are filing a joint return, each spouse can exclude the maximum $20,000.

If you claim this subtraction from income for disability income, you cannot claim the age deduction; however, if you are filing a joint return, each spouse may choose to claim either deduction and do not both need to make the same claim.
