Create a New Account
To register for the first time, you will need the following:
1. Email Address
A valid email address is required to:
- Receive account-related communications
- Recover your username or password
- Receive multi-factor authentication (MFA) security codes
- Send and receive secure documents
Important:
- One email address can be linked to up to 5 unique usernames.
2. Username
- Must be at least 4 characters long
- Must be unique
- Cannot be changed after creation
If you forget your username, use the account recovery tools available on the sign-in page.
3. Password
Your password must meet the following requirements:
- At least 8 characters
- Includes:
- One uppercase letter
- One lowercase letter
- One number
- One special character (e.g., !, @, #)
- Passwords are case-sensitive
4. U.S. Mobile Phone Number
A valid mobile number is required to:
- Receive MFA security codes
- Verify your identity
- Recover your account if needed
Final Step
Once all required information is entered, click “Create Account” to complete registration.
Already Have an Account?
If you’ve previously registered:
- Select “Sign In”
- Enter your username, email address, or phone number, along with your password
If you’re unsure of your login details:
- Click “Forgot Username” or “Forgot Password” on the sign-in page for assistance
“SSN Has Already Been Used?”
If you see a message indicating your SSN has already been used, it typically means:
- An account may already exist under your SSN
- You may have created an account in a previous tax year
- Your return may already be started or filed under another login
What to Do:
- Try signing in using:
- Any email address you may have used previously
- Your phone number
- Use the “Forgot Username” or “Forgot Password” links to recover access
- If you still cannot access your account, contact TaxSlayer Support for assistance
