What Do I Enter on Line 4 of Form 8889?

Enter the total amount contributed to your Archer Medical Savings Account (MSA) during the tax year by:
  • You
  • Your employer
Only include contributions made to your Archer MSA. Do not include contributions made to a Health Savings Account (HSA) or other health-related accounts.
You can find these Archer MSA contribution amounts on Form 8853, Archer MSAs and Long-Term Care Insurance Contracts. The amounts reported on lines 1 and 2 of Form 8853 are used to complete line 4 of Form 8889.
