The primary taxpayer's prior year Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) did not match the prior year AGI on the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) production file. If your AGI was adjusted in the prior year due to an amendment or correction by you or IDOR you should report the most recent AGI for your prior year tax return. You can find your prior year AGI by logging in to your MyTax Illinois account or by referring to the line by line on an adjustment letter received from IDOR (if applicable). Please note that to be in the IDOR production file the prior year return must have been accepted and processed. Be sure to read the blue banner information and select the scenario that best fits your e-filing history with Illinois. Please do not complete both the first- time filing and e-file in prior year or the return will be rejected by IDOR.

Your state return wages do not match the wages reported on your W-2 entry. The most common reason for this is a manual entry within the Illinois return.
To correct this, please log into the account and take the following steps:
- Select State Section
- Select Illinois Return
- Select Credits
- Select Credit for Taxes Paid to Another State.
- Enter the amount of tax paid to the other state, if the other state is not a reciprocal state (Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan or Wisconsin),
- Enter the income type and amount taxed by the other state. This is found on the other state's return and is NOT equal to the withholding on your W-2.
If you have a resident and nonresident return, the program will complete this automatically. Remove the entry completely and allow the program to calculate the credit for you.
Reciprocal States should refer to our Knowledgebase for more information.
