When you sign in to your account, you'll see a Tax Returns section near the bottom of your Tax Home page. This area displays tax returns that were prepared and/or electronically filed through your account during the previous three tax years. To review a return, select the three-dot menu next to the applicable tax year and choose View.
If the return you're looking for isn't listed, one of the following reasons may apply.
1. The Return Was Filed Under a Different Account
If you used a different username or created multiple accounts over the years, the return may be stored under a different login.
Try signing in with any other email addresses or usernames you may have used. If you don't remember the account credentials you used, review our article on recovering your username or password and sign in to the account where the return was originally filed.
2. The Return Was Prepared or Filed Through Another Tax Service
You may have filed that year's return using a different tax preparation provider.
In some cases, taxpayers begin preparing a return in one account but complete and file it through another service. Returns will only appear in your account if they were successfully filed and accepted through our software.
3. The Return Is More Than Three Tax Years Old
We retain electronically filed and accepted returns for the three most recent tax years.
For the 2026 filing season, tax years 2023, 2024, and 2025 are available for viewing and printing if they were filed and accepted through our software. If you're looking for a return from an earlier year, you'll need to request a tax transcript from the IRS or obtain a copy through your state tax agency.
4. Prior Year Returns Must Be Mailed
Returns for prior tax years generally cannot be electronically filed through our software. Instead, they must be printed, signed, and mailed to the appropriate tax agency.
If you recently prepared a prior year return, it may not appear in your filing history the same way as a return that was electronically filed and accepted.
