Need a copy of your tax return? Whether you're still working on your return, getting ready to mail it, or looking for a previously accepted return, you can print or save a PDF copy directly from your account.
Print Your Return Before E-Filing
If you have not yet electronically filed your return:
- Log in to your account.
- On your Tax Home page, select Continue.
- From the navigation menu, select Review > Summary.
- Select Print Return to view, print, or save a PDF copy of your return.
If you have not yet paid for your return, you can select Preview Draft to view a watermarked version.
Printing a Return You Plan to Mail
If you choose to file by mail instead of e-filing, make sure you:
- Sign and date your federal and state returns where required.
- Attach copies of your W-2s and any other wage statements.
- Include any additional forms or supporting documents generated with your return.
- Mail the return to the correct federal and state addresses.
The IRS mailing address depends on your state of residence and whether a payment is included with the return. State mailing addresses vary by state and are often printed directly on the return.
Print a Return After Filing but Before Acceptance
If you have already filed and purchased your return, you can print it from Review > Summary.
However, if you filed using the File & Go (Refund Transfer) payment option, printing is not available until your return has been accepted.
Print an Accepted Federal or State Return
Once your return has been accepted:
- Log in to your account.
- Scroll down on your Tax Home page.
- Select Print > Federal/State.
A PDF version of your return will open. From there, you can:
- Print the return using the print icon or by pressing Ctrl + P.
- Save the PDF using the save icon or by pressing Ctrl + Shift + S.
Print a Prior-Year Accepted Return
To print a previously accepted return:
- Log in to your account.
- Locate the tax year you need.
- Select the three-dot menu and choose View.
- Select Print > Federal/State in the upper-right corner.
- When the PDF opens, print or save the file using your browser or PDF viewer controls.
Using File & Go (Refund Transfer)
If you paid your filing fees through the Bank Refund Transfer (File & Go) option and your return has not yet been accepted, a free printable copy will not be available until acceptance is received.
In most cases:
- Federal acknowledgments are received within 24 to 48 hours.
- State acknowledgments may take an additional 24 to 72 hours if filed with the federal return.
Processing times can vary during peak filing periods.
