Due to the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) Act, the IRS cannot issue refunds claiming certain credits before the middle of February. These credits include:
- Earned Income Credit
- Additional Child Tax Credit
While the tax returns will be processed when received, returns containing these credits will not be funded until the middle of February.
The IRS expects the EITC or ACTC income tax refunds will be deposited into taxpayer's accounts around February 27, 2019 if they selected direct deposit and there aren't any other questions or concerns with the tax return.
After February, the IRS states that 9 out of 10 refunds are processed within 21 days of the IRS accepting the return.
