When you file your Idaho income tax return, you can choose to make voluntary donations to several state-approved organizations and programs. These donations will either:
- Reduce your refund, or
- Increase the amount of tax you owe.
Keep in mind that donations made on your Idaho return are irrevocable. Once you make a donation, you can't later request a refund of that contribution.
Program Entry
- Select State from the left-side menu.
- Click the three dots (...) next to Idaho and select Edit.
- Continue through the Idaho return to the Donations section.
- Enter the amount you'd like to contribute to any of the available organizations.
Idaho Charitable Donation Options
You may donate to any of the following organizations through your Idaho return:
Idaho Guard and Reserve Family Support Fund
Provides assistance to Idaho military reservists and their families to support readiness for state and federal missions.
Idaho Children's Trust Fund / Prevent Child Abuse Idaho
Supports programs throughout Idaho that work to prevent child abuse and neglect.
Special Olympics Idaho
Provides year-round sports training and competition opportunities for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
American Red Cross of Idaho Fund
Supports disaster relief, emergency assistance, and humanitarian services throughout Idaho communities.
Idaho Food Bank Fund
Helps provide food assistance to Idaho families, children, and seniors facing hunger.
Opportunity Scholarship Program
Provides need-based scholarships to Idaho high school graduates attending eligible Idaho colleges and universities.
Idaho Nongame Wildlife Fund
Supports conservation and management of Idaho's nongame wildlife, rare plants, and habitats.
Veterans Support Fund
Funds programs and services that assist Idaho veterans.
Before You Donate
Because Idaho treats these contributions as voluntary donations:
- Your refund will be reduced by the amount donated.
- If you owe tax, your balance due will increase by the amount donated.
- Donations generally can't be changed on an amended return.
