Individuals can e-file their returns beginning January 2, 2020!
The IRS has announced they will open on January 27, 2020 to begin processing returns. The IRS will pull a small amount of returns beginning January 13, 2018 to test their system. The returns are selected at random and we cannot determine which returns will be pulled for testing. However, you can e-file your return now and we will securely hold your return until the IRS begins processing returns on January 27. Once the IRS opens, your return will be promptly transmitted to the IRS for processing.
If your return contains Earned Income Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit, the IRS will hold your refund until mid February. According to the IRS, the earliest you will receive your refund that contains Earned Income Credit (EIC) or Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) is February 22, 2020 if direct deposit is selected and there are no other issues with the return. You can read more about this possible delay, here.
