When setting up your account, you will review a page titled "Personalize Your TaxSlayer experience" with two consents (for use and disclosure) of your tax return information.
The IRS requires us to provide this consent to you. Unless authorized by law, we cannot use your tax return information for purposes other than preparing and filing your tax return without your consent.
The consents you’ll review state that you agree to allow us to use your information to determine if certain products and services may benefit you. These products and services may include:
- access to exclusive offers
- new or improved products and services related to tax return preparation
- more ways to receive your refund, options to pay with your refund
- important tax reminders or updates to tax law changes, and
- helpful tips specific to your tax situation
The consent to disclose allows us to show you products and services by contacting you directly using your email address or through online advertising on various platforms. Some of our partners may collect limited information, such as your email address, to personalize the ads you see on their platforms.
We may use a service provider or business partner to accomplish the benefits listed above. If you choose not to consent, you will not see advertisements or offers for valuable products and services, such as options to pay for your tax preparation services (e.g., File & Go), various ways to receive your refund (e.g., debit card), identity protection and restoration solutions (e.g., Securely ID), and other related products and services. If you choose to consent, we can simplify the offers you receive to fit your specific needs. Our goal is to provide a personalized experience with everything you need to file easily and accurately.
As a reminder, we are committed to protecting your data. We do not sell taxpayer data or share information with other businesses in exchange for compensation. We may share limited information, such as your email address, to operate our business or market our products and services, as explained here and in our privacy policy.
You can skip the consents by selecting "Remind me later" and return to it before you e-file.
