Why does the Schedule H increase my tax owed?
When completing Schedule H, the taxes are calculated and reported on Schedule 2 to be included on the 1040 or 1040-SR as part of the total taxes on the return.
Generally, a separate payment for the Household Employee Tax is not made. The payment is incorporated into the tax calculation on your individual income tax return increasing your tax.
What if I already paid the Household Employment Tax?
The program will automatically add the amount of household employment tax to your return. If you already paid the tax and need to account for the payment, list the amount paid as a federal estimated payment.
