If you were a member of a domestic partnership that was registered in New Jersey on the last day of the tax year, you may claim a $1000 exemption for your domestic partner if he or she does not file a New Jersey income tax return.
You must enclose a copy of your New Jersey Certificate of Domestic Partnership the first time you claim the exemption, and you may be asked to provide additional information at a later date.

- Edit New Jersey return
- Basic Information
- Select "Yes" for "Are you filing as a Domestic Partner?"
Please note: This exemption would only apply if you are not claiming the spouses exemption on your federal return.
