Once you've prepared and filed your return, you can access and print it for up to three years after the original filing deadline. Our system maintains the current tax year plus the three prior tax years, making it easy to retrieve past returns when you need them.
Where you'll find your return depends on the time of year, especially after the annual transition to the next tax season.
Before October 15
If you're looking for a return from the current filing season before October 15:
- Sign in to your account.
- On the My Account screen, select the printer icon next to your return status.
- A PDF copy of your accepted return will open in a new window.
- From there, you can view, print, or save the return for your records.
After October 15th
The current-year returns are moved to the Prior Years section on your Tax Home page as part of the transition to the upcoming tax season.
To print a prior-year return:
- Sign in to your account.
- Scroll to the Tax Returns section and locate the tax year you need.
- Select the three-dot menu and choose View.
- Select Print and choose the return you want to open.
If the Print option isn't available, the return may not have been successfully e-filed. In that case:
- Select Access Return.
- Go to Review > Summary/Print.
- Print a copy of the return from that screen.
Printing the Current Version of Your Return
If you want to print the version of your return that's currently saved in your account (which may be different from the accepted return if you've made changes since filing), follow the steps below.
- Sign in to your account.
- Open your return.
- Select Review > Summary from the navigation menu.
- Choose Print Return.
This generates a PDF that includes your federal return and any state returns in a single document. If you made changes to the account, the return may not be the same as the accepted return.
