You can choose one of the following options to receive your refund:
- Direct Deposit
- Mailed Check
- Debit Card
- File & Go/Bank Refund Transfer
What is the Direct Deposit option?
Direct Deposit (**Recommended for a faster refund**)
This option allows you to file your federal and/or state return(s) electronically, and to have your refund directly deposited into your checking account, savings account, or prepaid card(if feature is available). This option usually takes 10-21 days to complete based on the IRS and state(s) refund cycles. This is a good choice for those with a checking or savings account. Having your refund directly deposited into your checking or savings account is also the fastest method to receive your federal and/or state refund.
What is the Mailed Check option?
Mailed Check
This option allows you to file your federal return and/or all state return(s) electronically. You will receive your federal and/or state refund as a mailed check. Your refund check will be issued to the mailing address listed on your accepted tax return. This method usually takes 18-28 days to receive your refund in the mail. This is a good choice for those without a checking or savings account.
If you are using a PO Box, choose to receive your refund in the form of bonds or choose our File N Go option, mailed check will not be an option.
What is the Debit Card option?
Prepaid Card
Green Dot card powered by TaxSlayer. This option allows you to receive your refund(s) by debit card powered by Green Dot. You will receive your Green Dot card in the mail within 15 days of your return being accepted. Once your return is done being processed, your refund will be direct deposited to the card. Please see How do I Contact Green Dot if you have any questions regarding your Green Dot card.
Personal prepaid card. This option allows you to deposit your refund to your existing prepaid card through direct deposit. Some examples of this kind of prepaid card would be Chime, Netspend, BlueBird, and PayPal Prepaid Mastercard just to name a few. Please note, not all prepaid cards accept direct deposit. For a prepaid card to accept a direct deposit, it must have an account and routing number. If you are unsure of if your card allows this type of transaction, please contact the issuer.
What is the File & Go Refund Transfer option?
File & Go/Bank RT(Refund Transfer)
This option allows you to file your federal return and state return(s) electronically, and to have your refunds directly deposited into your personal checking account, savings account, or prepaid card(if feature is available). This option usually takes 10-18 days to complete. This option requires that you provide a valid phone number, email address, some type of verifiable identification, and bank account information in your return. This option is the same as a Direct Deposit, except that filing fees and any bank processing fees are deducted from your federal or state refund (whichever is funded first). To use this option, you must be filing a federal return and receiving a refund from your federal return to cover the expenses listed above.
