A feature has been added during the E-file process that enables you to purchase U.S. Savings Bonds using your anticipated Federal refund for yourself or another individual. This feature is located during the E-file process but will only be available to you if you are expecting to receive a refund of $50 or more. You will have the option to purchase up to three (3) U.S. Savings Bonds in $50 increments up to $5,000 but not to exceed your refund amount.
As stated above, this feature is only available during the E-file process. When you are ready to submit your Federal return for processing, select "E-file" located on the left side navigation bar. Continue through the E-file process until you arrive at the page asking "Are you interested in investing your refund?" Select, "Yes" if you would like to use a portion of your refund to purchase up to three savings bonds for yourself or someone else. Once this box has been selected "Yes" you will continue through the E-file process until you reach the "Purchase Savings Bonds" page. Complete the information on the page as it pertains to your purchase of the U.S. Savings Bonds click "Continue" to save the information.
Once the necessary information has been provided, please continue through the E-file process until you have successfully E-filed your return.
