The following payments and or donations can be made on your North Carolina state return.
Taxes Paid To A Partnership As A Nonresident Partner
If you are a nonresident partner of a Partnership, enter your share of the tax paid to North Carolina by the manager of the partnership on your distributive share of the partnership income. You should attach a PDF copy of form NC Partnership K-1.
Taxes Paid To An S Corporation As A Nonresident Shareholder
If you are a nonresident shareholder of an S-Corporation, enter the share of the income tax paid to North Carolina by an S-Corporation on your distributive share of the S-Corporation income. You should attach a PDF copy of form NC S-Corporation K-1.
Apply Your State Refund To Your Next Tax Return
Your state withholding and payments are automatically pulled from your Federal return. Please be sure that the state sections are completed on forms such as your W-2s and 1099s for accurate calculations. If you would like to apply all or part of your state refund to next year’s state tax return, you can enter the amount in this section of the program.
Enter Payments, If Any, You Made With Your Filed Extension
If you applied for an extension for time to file your North Carolina return and paid an amount with your extension, enter the amount to add to your total payments.
Penalties And Interest
If you made any payments towards interest and penalty fees you incurred, you may enter that amount. If you are a Farmer or Fisherman, you may qualify for an exception to the fees.
What programs can I donate to?
You may donate a portion of your refund to any of the following:
- North Carolina Education Endowment Fund
- North Carolina Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Fund
- North Carolina Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program
NOTE: Donating to any of the above programs will either reduce your refund or increase the amount of taxes due on your tax return.
