When filing your 2026 Arizona individual income tax return, you can choose to make voluntary contributions to certain state-sponsored charitable funds directly through your return. These contributions are entirely optional and can support a variety of programs across Arizona.
Keep in mind that any voluntary contribution you make will either reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe with your return.
Available Arizona Voluntary Contribution Funds
You may contribute to any of the following funds:
- Solutions Teams Assigned to Schools Fund
- Arizona Wildlife Fund
- Child Abuse Prevention Fund
- Domestic Violence Shelter Fund
- I Didn't Pay Enough Fund
- Neighbors Helping Neighbors Fund
- Special Olympics Fund
- Veterans' Donation Fund
- Spay/Neuter of Animals Fund
- Sustainable State Parks and Roads Fund
- Political Gift
You can contribute to one fund, several funds, or all of them if you choose.
Important Note About Amended Returns
Once you make a voluntary contribution on your originally filed Arizona return, you cannot change the amount of that contribution on an amended return.
For example, if you contribute $25 to the Arizona Wildlife Fund when you file your return, you cannot later increase, decrease, or remove that contribution by filing an amended Arizona return.
How to Enter Voluntary Contributions in the Program
Program Pathway
To make or review voluntary contributions in your Arizona return:
- Go to the State section.
- Select Edit next to your Arizona return.
- Choose Voluntary Contributions.
- Enter the amount you would like to contribute to each selected fund.
The software will automatically include your contributions in your Arizona tax calculation and adjust your refund or balance due accordingly.
Things to Consider Before Making a Contribution
Voluntary contributions can be a simple way to support causes that are important to you, but it's a good idea to review the impact on your return before filing. Because these donations directly affect your tax outcome and cannot be changed later through an amendment, double-check your entries before submitting your Arizona return.
