If you take the standard deduction, you cannot claim charitable contributions on your federal return.
The standard deduction for the 2021 tax year is $12,550 for single filers, $18,800 for heads of household and, $25,100 for married couples filing jointly. However, if your itemized deductions exceed the standard deduction for your filing status, and age, you may take itemized deductions and claim the Charitable Contributions.
