If you take the standard deduction on your 2023 return, you cannot claim charitable contributions on your federal return.
The standard deduction for the 2023 tax year is $13,850 for single filers, $20,800 for heads of household and, $27,700 for married couples filing jointly. However, if your itemized deductions exceed the standard deduction for your filing status and age, you may take itemized deductions and claim the Charitable Contributions.
