According to IRS regulations, any amount reported in Box 12 of Form 1099-DIV is to be treated as "Tax-Exempt Interest Income."

- Did you earn any interest or dividend income from a bank, brokerage firm or some other financial institution?
- Dividend Income Form 1099-DIV
- Exempt Interest Dividends Form 1099-DIV, Box 12. Complete this screen as if your Tax-Exempt Dividend Income was reported in Box 8 of a 1099-INT.
If you have an amount listed in Box 13, please disregard unless you are subject to Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT). If you are subject to the AMT and must enter the amount listed in box 13, go to:
