Form SSA-1099 (SSA-1099-SM) is used to report any Social Security benefits that you may have collected during the year.
Where to enter Form SSA-1099?
To enter, go to:
- Federal Section
- Income - Select My Forms
- 1099-R, RRB, SSA - Distributions from pensions, annuities, retirement, IRA's, Social Security, etc.
- Social Security Benefits/RRB-1099
Box 5 shows the net amount of benefits paid for the year.
Box 6 shows the amount of your federal tax withholding. It is uncommon to have withholding from social security benefits.
Box 3 . Lists the benefits paid, Medicare premiums, and any adjustments made. Only the adjustments that apply to you will be shown. If no adjustments were made to the benefits paid, the word “none” will be shown.
What do I enter for Medicare Premiums?
Your Medicare premium amounts are listed in box 3 of your SSA-1099.
