Paper filing, or mailing your tax return, is required after the tax season's electronic filing deadline. The deadline to e-file your return is also the deadline for extension filers, October 15th. After the e-file deadline you cannot submit your return electronically so you must file via paper.
Things to know when paper filing
When you paper file you do not report your prior year AGI or PIN. Your prior year AGI/PIN is only needed when you e-file as a means of signing your return. When you paper file you must physically sign and date your return.
When you paper file you must attach a copy of your W-2s and/or 1099s along with any additional forms that have been generated based on your entries. Our program will not generate copies of any W-2s you report.
