How do I indicate I am active duty military to qualify for the free federal military return?

Active duty military members with a qualifying EIN on their W-2 receive a free Classic Federal return. 

How can I receive a free federal tax return if I am an active-duty military member?

The military package is automatically generated based on the EIN listed on your W-2. 

Here's how it works:  

  1. Create your free account (or log back in if you already have one).
  2. Enter your military W-2, verify your active duty status, and your discount will be applied.   

The program will automatically adjust your package based on the information provided in your W-2.

You must be active duty military and have a qualifying EIN to receive the free federal return.

Only the Classic Edition is available for the free federal return. If you are using the premium edition, additional fees apply. 

State returns are not included in the military edition at no additional cost.
