Active duty military members with a qualifying EIN on their W-2 receive a free Classic Federal return. 

How do I receive a free federal return if I am active duty military?

The military package is automatically generated based on the EIN listed on your W-2. 

Here's how it works:

1. Create your free account (or log back in if you already have one).
2. Enter your military W-2, verify your active duty status and your discount will be applied.  

The program will automatically adjust your package based on the W-2 entry.

You must be active duty military and have a qualifying EIN to receive the free federal return.

Only the Classic Edition is available for the free federal return. If you are using the premium edition, there are additional fees. 

State returns are not included in the military edition for free.
