Starting in 2023, Tax Slayer partnered with MeasureOne to allow Tax Slayer customers using the Classic, Premium, or Self-Employed package to import their current-year capital gains and losses.
Where do I import from?
If you need to import your capital transactions, please follow the steps below.
- Login to Tax Slayer
- Access your return
- Federal
- Income (Select my forms)
- Investments
- Stocks, Mutual Funds, Cryptocurrency, Collectibles, etc.
- Choose to "Import my sales" then press continue
After choosing to import your sales, you will be prompted to log in to your brokerage account. After you enter your brokerage account login credentials, your brokerage will text you a code to enter. After you enter the code, you will receive a message stating that your data has been requested from your brokerage account, and our software will show your sales as pending.
How Can I Tell When My 1099 Import is Complete?
Once your request is complete, your data will be imported, and you will receive an email notifying you. Please note that this will not occur immediately. The time it takes to import depends on your brokerage account (normally up to 24 hours). Once you receive the email notifying you of the import, review your information to verify that it was fully imported and accurate.
If the import is still pending and not completed after 24 hours, it is suggested that you delete the pending request and then request the import again.
NOTE: Any transactions that require an adjustment must be manually adjusted once pulled into the account.
Can I import my prior year capital gains?
No. The MeasureOne import feature is only available for current-year federal tax returns.
Will this also import my 1099-INT and 1099-DIV?
No, the import will only pull in your capital gains and losses. Any other portion of the composite 1099-B must be manually entered into the account. A consolidated or composite brokerage statement cannot be used if it includes DIV/INT transactions. To upload, only the 1099-B transactions must be present.
What if I do not have an online brokerage account?
If you don't have an online brokerage, you will not be able to use MeasureOne to import your 1099-B. However, you can still upload your 1099-B to MeasureOne. When asked to log in to your brokerage account, select "Upload documents instead." Next, select Add Document, then choose your 1099-B PDF from your device and upload it.
