To have your account's package changed, the situation is dependent on whether you wish to upgrade or downgrade your package.
What if I want to upgrade my package?
To upgrade your package, you can simply add an item not supported by that package and our software will upgrade your account automatically to a package which supports the corresponding form.
If you wish to upgrade for the added support options, you can do so by choosing the upgraded support option from the "Help & Support" listing, within your TaxSlayer account such as "Ask a Tax Pro."
How do I know if my package was upgraded?
Before you purchase your return, whether it's during the E-file process or to view your PDF, you will be shown your package's filing fees. If your package was upgraded, the upgraded package will be detailed on the same page showing your filing fees. On the page detailing your filing fees you can select "Why was I upgraded?" for a detailed list of the items on your return that caused your package to be upgraded.
To check if your package was upgraded before the E-file process, please follow the steps below.
- Login to your account and access your return
- Select Summary/Print from the navigation bar
- Show Details
- Pay Now
- If your package was upgraded, it will be detailed on this page
Note: After your return has been purchased, you will no longer be able to view the reason(s) for your upgrade.
What if I want my package downgraded?
If you would like to have your account downgraded, please follow the steps listed above to check the reason your account was upgraded. If your package does not list any reasons for the upgrade, please send us an email. You can send us an email by logging into your account and selecting Help & Support > I have a question about my taxes > My topic is not listed > Technical Support > Email Support.
If your package was upgraded due to a required item or form on your return, your return cannot be downgraded.
Note: If you have utilized one of our premium support features, Live Chat or Ask a Tax Pro, you are not eligible to be downgraded.
Is there anything else I should know regarding my package?
If you wish to have your package adjusted, it MUST be done before you purchase and/or E-file your return. After you agree to your filing fees and purchase/file your return, you are no longer eligible to have your package adjusted.
